Explore Ireland on this Unique, Custom Group Tour Experience


We’ve put together a unique itinerary that starts in Dublin and heads north to the beautiful coastal areas, natural wonders, and bustling cities of Ireland. The trip wraps up with a castle stay before you return to Dublin for your flight home. Even if you have been to Ireland before, you likely haven’t seen these unique areas of the Emerald Isle.


Sunday, September 8th:
Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to start your vacation.
Monday, September 9th:
After landing at Dublin Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. Your CIE Tours driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland. Next, visit Glasnevin Museum, Ireland's national necropolis, for a guided tour of the final resting place of some of the most prominent people in Ireland's history. Then tour EPIC Ireland, which celebrates the dramatic story of the spread of Irish culture around the globe, and how Ireland has changed throughout the years. Drive to your hotel, check in and settle into your room. In the evening, meet your fellow travelers for dinner at the hotel restaurant.  DINNER & OVERNIGHT: ACADEMY PLAZA HOTEL, DUBLIN (or similar)
Tuesday, September 10th:
Today set off with a local guide who will show you around Dublin.  The city has been molded through the centuries with many architectural styles, reflecting the economic, political, and artistic influences. Stop at Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, an 8th century illuminated manuscript of the gospels and see the Old Library.  Next, tour Guinness Storehouse to see exhibits on how this world famous stout was first created and why it is so popular today. Finish your visit in the roof-top bar, where you can sample a draft of Guinness.  The afternoon is free to sightsee and shop.  Tonight, head to Brazen Head, which is Dublin's oldest pub, dating back to 1198.  Enjoy an evening of Food, Folk, and Fairies, where story-telling will reveal Ireland's myths and beliefs in times past.
Wednesday, September 11th:
This morning, drive into County Roscommon before stopping to visit Strokestown Park House, which dates from the 17th century.  This fine mansion shows the lifestyle of the affluent owners and also the conditions of the servants and farmers of the area, particularly during the Famine era of the 1840s when many Irish emigrated to the United States.  Continue your journey to Westport, where you will set off on a walking tour.  Among the picturesque features of the town if the promenade (the Mall) and the little stone bridges along the River Carrow Beg.  Then check into your hotel and take some time to settle in before dinner at a local pub. Thursday, September 12th:
This morning, travel along Curraun Peninsula to reach Achill Island, joined to the mainland by a bridge. Follow the Atlantic Drive to capture wonderful and wild scenic views of steeply sloped mountains plunging into the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. Stop to view the Deserted village, which provides a haunting reminder of times past on Achill Island. Return to Westport, where you are free for individual pursuits and dining.  OVERNIGHT: WESTPORT PLAZA HOTEL, WESTPORT (or similar)
Friday, September 13th:
Leaving Westport, head to Atlantic Sheepdogs, where you will have an opportunity to experience farm life and see some of the world's smartest sheepdogs, working in their natural environment. Next, enjoy a sightseeing tour around County Donegal, which is renowned for woolen production and tweeds. Continue your journey to Letterkenny, where you will check in for dinner and your overnight stay.  DINNER & OVERNIGHT:  STATION HOUSE HOTEL, LETTERKENNY
Saturday, September 14th:
Upon arrival to Derry this morning, join a local guide for a walking tour. See the Guildhall, St. Columb's Cathedral, the Diamond and the 16th century walls. Continue on to visit the Giant's Causeway, an impressive area of hexagonal columns formed over 60 million years ago by cooling lava. Next, motor a short distance to visit Bushmills Distillery, which is Ireland's oldest whiskey distillery. See how whiskey is distilled and then try a sample at the end of your tour. Then drive to the bustling city of Belfast and check into your hotel. You may wish to relax or freshen up before dining on your own.  OVERNIGHT: GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL, BELFAST (or similar)
Sunday, September 15th:
Embark on a guided tour of Belfast to see the Albert Memorial, the Opera House and Crown Liquor Saloon . In Donegal! Square view the imposing City Hall, completed in 1906. The richly decorated interior contains stained glass portraying Belfast's principal industries. Visit Titanic Belfast to embark on a journey through the life of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast to her tragic end. The afternoon is free to relax, sightsee or shop on your own. Tonight, visit the Crumlin Road Gaol which was a prison dating back to 1845. On your visit, you will learn about the history of women and children detained within the political segregated walls of the prison between republican and loyalist prisoners . Also, tour the underground tunnel which connected the Gaol to the Crumlin Road Courthouse. After your tour, join your group for dinner in the dining hall of the Gaol.  OVERNIGHT: GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL, BELFAST (or similar)
Monday, September 16th:
After breakfast, journey south to Drogheda and embark on a guided walking tour. See the head of St . Oliver Plunkett, the first Irishman to be canonized in 700 years, and 14th century St. Laurence Gate in the medieval walls. From Drogheda, motor a short distance to your luxury hotel and check in. Once you settle in, you will have some time to use some of the amenities that Cabra Castle's offers. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a superb dinner in the Cabra Castle's fine restaurant .  DINNER & OVERNIGHT: CABRA CASTLE HOTEL, KINGSCOURT (or similar)
Tuesday, September 17th:
Return to the United States
